In 1987, Sega of America sold its SMS rights to Tonka Toys. Unfortunattely poor support doomed the system. Tip: The Game Gear can run SMS carts (with "Master Gear" adapter) but not vice versa. This is because Game Gear has 4096 color palette capability, while the SMS has only a 256 color palette. You can also play SMS games on your Genesis using a device called the Power Base Converter. |
